ACCESSIBLE FILM CYCLE 2021
From November 17th to December 3rd, the 2021 edition of the Accessible Film Series takes place. The cycle features Uruguayan films and short films with descriptive subtitles, audio descriptions, and Uruguayan sign language interpretation. The event is face-to-face in movie theaters in different neighborhoods of Montevideo, and also through TV Ciudad and virtually on the website www.ciclocineaccesible.fic.edu.uy
In addition, satellite activities are added: exhibitions in Canelones and Soriano, and a discussion on cinema and accessibility in Uruguay. All activities are free to access until full capacity is reached and are carried out in accessible facilities. In movie theaters there is a magnetic ring for people who use hearing aids or cochlear implants, as well as Uruguayan sign language interpreters and hosts ready to guide in the spaces and advise on activities.
The activity is promoted by the National Union of the Blind of Uruguay and its Red Mate program. In turn, it is co-organized by the Interdisciplinary Communication and Accessibility Center and the Faculty of Information and Communication (University of the Republic); Montevideo Audiovisual (Municipality of Montevideo), the Catholic University of Uruguay, and Monarca films. Okurelo supports the activity by providing films adapted by our team and joins the support of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (Ministry of Education and Culture); Tv Ciudad, Sala Zitarrosa, Artesano and Casa de la Pólvora cultural centers, Botanical Garden (Montevideo City Council), Uruguayan Film Producers and Filmmakers Association, Uruguayan Deaf Association, Cochlear Implanted Support Association, Audipro, La Diaria , Good Thing, USB Port and Casamadre.
